Opera Singer - Tenor

He was born in Taranto (Italy) in 1967, began to train as an opera singer in 1988 with soprano Maria Luisa Cioni, then with Maestro Pier Miranda Ferraro, with Maestro Paride Venturi and Maestra Giovanna Giovannini and later he perfected himself under the guidance of Maestro Anatoli Goussev.

He began singing in recitals in 1992, increasing their numbers in a few months. In 1993 he began singing as the leading tenor of the ‘Giovane Compagnia di Operette di Corrado Abbati’ (an Italian operetta company): with this and other companies, in the last few years, he has played 26 roles in 23 different operette, singing in over 1800 performances in all Italian theatres.

The roles are: Cin Ci Là (Ciclamino), Frasquita (Armando Mirabeau), La Principessa della Czarda (Edvino), La Vedova Allegra (Danilo, Camillo De Rossillon), La Danza delle Libellule (Carlo duca di Nancy), Il Paese dei Campanelli (Hans), Madama di Tebe (Babà), Sissi (Thurn und Taxis), Scugnizza (Totò), Il Pipistrello (Alfred, Falke), Sogno Viennese (Tauber), L'acqua cheta (Cecco), Addio Giovinezza (Mario), Al Cavallino Bianco (Bellati, Leopoldo), Il Paese del Sorriso (Sou Chong), Sogno di un Valzer (NiKi), Il Conte di Lussemburgo (Renè, il Conte), La Contessa Mariza (Tassilo), La Bajadera (Rajami), La Duchessa di Chicago (Sandor Boris), Bentornata Operetta (Il Tenore), La Città Rosa (Keri), Paganini (Paganini).

He can number a lot of performances in opera classical theatres, such as: “Regio” in Parma, “Valli” in Reggio Emilia, “Verdi” in Pisa, “Donizetti” in Bergamo, “Grande” in Brescia, “Dante Alighieri” in Ravenna, “Fraschini” in Pavia, “Coccia” in Novara, “Municipale” in Piacenza, “Ponchielli” in Cremona, “Bibiena” in Mantova, “Mancinelli” in Orvieto, “Bonci” in Cesena, “Rinnovati” in Siena, Comunale “Luigi da Palestrina” in Cagliari, “Giordano” in Foggia, “Bellini” in Napoli, “Piccinni” in Bari, “Politeama Greco” in Lecce, “Rendano” in Cosenza and many more.

He also sang in important theatres in big cities, such as: Milan, Turin, Verona, Genoa, Bologna, Florence, Naples, Palermo and Catania. In summertime, he sang in places such as: the arena theatre of “Vittoriale Dannunziano” in Gardone Riviera (BS), Sferisterio in Macerata, Arena Flegrea in Napoli and the Greek Theatre in Taormina.

He arrived at the final phase of the ‘Concorso Lirico Internazionale’ (International Opera Contest) “Renata Tebaldi” in Milan in 2001 and attended master-classes at the ‘Accademia di Arte Lirica’ (Opera Academy) in Osimo (Ancona, Italy) with Maestro Sergio Segalini.

In 2002 he participated for the first time at ‘Festival della Valle d’Itria’ in Martina Franca (Taranto, Italy) playing two roles in the same opera: De Thorè and Bois Rosè in “Les Huguenottes” by Meyerbeer. In 2003 he played the roles of Ivan and the Cossack in “SIBERIA” by Giordano, in the same festival and in 2004 he played the role of Arlecchino (Harlequin) in “Pagliacci” by Leoncavallo and received the ‘Premio Nazionale Italia’ (“Italy” National Prize) for his career. In 2005 he arrived at the final phase of the ‘Concorso Internazionale’ (International Opera Contest) “Neroni” at Ripatransone (Ascoli Piceno, Italy). In 2007 he attended the Festival della Valle d’Itria, having a role in the Strauss’s ‘Salomè’ and as a protagonist in the concerts dedicated to verism.

Domingo Stasi has moreover participated in about sixteen television broadcasts, such as ‘Unomattina’ and ‘Prima della prima’ on Rai channels (Italian national television). He has recorded several CD’s (among which, “Cavalleria Rusticana”) and DVD’s as well, and the number of his concerts abroad has increased.

He made his debut as Turiddu, in Mascagni’s ‘Cavalleria Rusticana’ (2009), as Maurizio, in Cilea’s ‘Adriana Lecouvreur’ (2009), in Verdi’s ‘Requiem’ (2010), as Ishmael, in Verdi’s ‘Nabucco’ (2012), as Pinkerton, in Puccini’s ‘Madame Butterfly’ (2013) and in Verdi’s ‘Trovatore’, as Manrico.

In addition, he sang in the leading role of Radovan, in the world premiere of the Slovenian contemporary opera “Pod svobodnim soncem” (2016), then in the role of Dolef, in the world premiere of “Deseti brat” (2017) and then in the role of Glavni služabnik, in the world premiere of “Ambrož in Katarina”, first opera with the “tamburice” orchestra ever (2019).

His repertoire ranges from operas to operette, to salon romances, to folk songs with particular care and devotion to Neapolitan songs. Overall, he can number about 1800 costume recitals and about 700 concerts till now. He has toured abroad in several countries, such as: Germany, Switzerland, Russia, Belarus, Armenia, Slovenia, Bosnia, Mexico, Albania, China and Canada.
